id say it wasnt a BW diff coz its in SA, but if you look under the diff it should have borg warner cast into the bottom of the housing under the pinion

oh, KE30 diffs are much wider than 1200/120y ones, definatly not the brakes
KE20 diffs are about the same size, but they arent really a strong diff

Hey cool, even more reason not to replace it immediately. It won't last for ever though, apparently the 1400 UTE has an even stronger unit, will find out a bit more about them.

HNY to you also, still need to get around to send that GX badge from the grill as well

They are pretty strong - ment to be stronger than h165

Pretty quotes from the Wiki...

All this axle talk has got me trampling... Here is a recent photo of my build, and I'm wondering if my 1200 GX has got a BW in it or not.

It has the removable backplate, and has 8 bolts holding the backing plate on. I don't remember seeing any tags on it, but will have a look tonight. Any ideas on which one this might be? Keep in mind that I'm is South Africa.

Going to keep it in there until it gives up anyway...

I did a bit of a writeup on my rolla diff conversion here:

http://datsun1200.com/modules/newbb/v ... c_id=24660&forum=1#132412

Also have a BW from a 120y too. Which remiinds me i should check the lengths and make sure. I was certain the brakes are what made the diff wider and not the axels but Harry states otherwise. I shoulda taken a picture :)

You say the BW KE?? corolla diff is a bolt in, will this bolt up to the BW 1200 tailshaft?

Also I measured my mates Ke30 Wagon, centre of leaf to centre of leaf and it was 10-15mm wider than a 1200. I was thinking the mounting lugs on the leafs are larger in diameter on a corolla and this should allow it to fit anyway. Can anyone verify this?

EDIT, I just read to wookie and it says that you need the 120y BW diff flange and 120y tailshaft, guess i can use the 1200 BW flange!

See Rear Axle Swap

There are pictures there:

120Y 4-dr sedans and wagons were Australian assembled and had a Borg Warner diff (BW model 68). All were 3.89 ratio, although the 120Y wagon and panelvan might have had a different ratio.
