Oh my someone needs a grip on reality.
Nissan is a car company, a business.
Its not a fanclub.
If it was a fanclub or even remotely like your dreams. Then why did they not continue to produce parts for every single type of car that they have ever released for sale? After all your beliefs are that they have a duty to their fans. pfffft

Spot on my friend. I still think it's too bad all those cars got crushed. The existance of all those datsuns/nissans allowed for the potential ownership.. Maybe one day I could own that Zero mile 1200 because it exists. But now if that paticular one doesn't exist, it's absolutely impossible for me to own it. Granted it was a farfetched next to impossible notion before the crushing. Sometimes it's nice having "impossible dreams".

In any case, Nissan doesn't care as much as we do and they never will so let's just let it slide.. I appreciate your passion jaime but that's business. Might as well let it be. My two.

Matt. I infered from your initial post all the cars got crushed. Seems like it is not as bad as it appeared to be initially.

Why do you write Nis-san and Ten-nesse...

Is this a regional pronounciation of the words??? Ho Capito !

Dat383 , we will never be able to communicate if you are not going to take the time to read my responses. I sumarized very well what I think about. have a nice day.

Phunkdoktaspok, bro , I am going to leave it here, I do not want to enter into ludicrous arguments. I will ask you to read my previous response, you ask about the sook, I explained why I consider that move wrong and counterproductive.

I am going to add that every and any successful venture has obligations towards its followers. Be it a successful Australian Football team, Rugby Team , Auto maker company, even institutions like schools, universities.....any entity that has a following has a responsability towards those followers.
Yes, you are right about being business and the " so what" complexion of your position , but in business there is what is called customer base. That is a precious item , invaluable and cherished.
Many new companies would pay billions to have what older established companies have in this regard . Have you seen a Hyundae fan club?? probably there is one...but we can count its members with one hand. Even if they wanted to, a museum of Hyundaes would look tacky and useless. Like good wine, some things need time to become classy and to have weight and substance.
An Australian Rugby team getting rid of a star player, hiring a dorky useless player or changing the look of its stadium or team logo would have repercussions. Yes, the team Owner can do as he wishes, but there is a responsability he has towards his followers and if he disregards it , he will have to face a negative backlash.
The actions of Nissan's CEO are regretable, even though there is people that do not care about what happened to those cars, there are millions that do care about it. If the CEO of Nissan destroys these cars, and yes, he destroys... ( not even giving those cars away to known enthusiasts or museums/organizations, but crushed the patrimony of Datsun followers, the traditional and institutional patrimony ) ....these vehicles, what is the message Nissan is giving Datsun and Nissan followers...." Do not follow us, do not bother restoring or keeping up your older vehicles, we think our vehicles are scrap , worthless...all we care is to make a new car and we want you to buy the new car..."
We all look for revenue....but one thing is to be a pig and scavenge for money, another thing is to have class and become an institution with a following crowd.
I think we will not be able to communicate if not willing to give it a time to appreciate the concept of institution, the concept of responsability to followers, and the concept of customer loyalty which is not about loyalty in a superficial way, but it means millions in loyal customes buying the brand. Perhaps these concepts are irrelevant to you , but regardless , these are very important and real concepts.

late....

edit:
some of you (including phunk) are ignoring phunk's advice to take your egos to the sook thread

what's happening is that you're denigrating (lessening) the impact of this thread, so please stop

i know most of you are either in shock or anger, but the fact remains that the bulk of the cars in the nis-san heritage ware-house have been crushed

my source has a working relationship with nis-san and prefers to remain anonymous. if that prevents you from believing what has transpired, so be it

nis-san initially didn't want to keep any of these cars, but it changed its mind at the last minute and brought 1/2 dozen or so with it to ten-nessee

including the bre 510 #46 (so shipping it to nismo, japan was only a backup plan)

the remaining few "important" cars were donated to museums or sold to private parties

the ware-house was not open to the public, so photos and documentation of the collection are precious few

will anybody rise to the challenge and attempt to inventory and trace the missing cars? i doubt it!

and asking nis-san to admit to what they've done is a pointless excercise

oh, and should've initially clarified that the not all the cars featured in the "dream car ga-rage" ad campaign belonged to nis-san

for instance mr. k's yellow 240z belongs to his former secretary here in the u.s.

DatDude, I guess its because Americans pronounce Nissan as 'Neesan', hence "Nis-san".

Excuse me champ. Since your other post was in response to mine, I will asume that this last post of yours jamie was also.
Where is it said that you can not feel the way you do? I asked why do you sook? You dont seem to know why you feel this way. Did you contact Nissan while they had this collection and attempt to take control of this collection or offer to mantain this collection for Nissan?
Throw the Ball? Maybe its time to sleep champ, You dont seem to know what it is you are sooking about.
Its not a private collector,
Its not a private museum,
Its a company thats out there for profit.
If its about history, then why was Nissan sold?

This is very dissapointing and unhonourable, that's right, unhonourable. There is a difference between paying the bills and adding that extra billion or so to the company you happen to run.

Keep a thought in mind though as to how many other companies have done this and will do this, like Ford............
