I just got back from Collingrove Hillclimb tonight with a PB under my belt!! I did a 40.88 which is an average time for the class i was in (road reg over 3000cc). The track was slippery and on old road tyres, i was busy behind the wheel to say the least.

Cheers. Adam

Thanks Harry
I bleed the brakes before each sprint but I haven't completely flushed the system for ages so I will give that a go when I fit the new master cylinder.

That's a pretty solid time on road rubber. It will be interesting to see what difference the suspension tweaks make. When do you think you will head out again?

Cheers Matty

Matty, sounds like the fluid has gone off, or RBF isn't all its cracked up to be. try a total flush of the system. these 600deg fluids don't last very long before they've absorbed moisture and need flushing.

GTR did 61.5 on the sprint track on cheapo Federal road tyres. Since then I've added adjustable upper arms on the front for more camber, some offset bushes in the rear upper arms for less camber and done a proper wheel alignment so it should be a touch quicker now.

I'd look forward to that as it's about time someone else got a look-in at the winners flag. I had been holding out to see if the Carpenter brothers could make a contest of it, but so far the mighty KB10 hasn't been able to make it to the track for a variety of reasons.
It would be a real contest if the three of you could compete together, but if Chris' coupe looks like it's not doing so good it might spur the 'secret weapon' along.

I told you when you deserted the small Datsun camp by selling your 1200 coupe that you'd be back.

Hi Harry
I bled the brakes a couple of nights before the meet as I always do. The pedal was firm at that stage but after 2 laps it was significantly softer and has since stayed that way. Any ideas?

I still have a fair bit of the Motul left but I might try the Penrite next time. What times were doing round QR in the GTR?
Matty

Matty, is the pedal always soft or does it go off on the track? I'm not saying the Penrite is better than Motul, I haven't used the RBF600, but none of them last very long - they're exceptionally hydroscopic. If you're changing the fluid regularly, the Penrite is much more affordable.

I found my pedal was the best its ever been as soon as I swapped to Penrite Sin - a much firmer pedal. And absolutely no degradation over 5 laps of QR in the GTR - which is a heavy beast, fast in a straight line and slow around corners, so gives the brakes a big workout!

dodgeman, any chance the Boss might make the trip up to Mt Cotton for the Australian Champs this year? Would love to see the car in action.
Sorry, but I didn't see this post untill now.

I do not believe that there are any plans to compete at any venue further afield than Bathurst at this time as he simply can't afford to be away from the office for more than a day, so everything needs to be squeezed into a weekend or so.

Thanks Mildman

Hi Harry
It would've been good to finally meet. Maybe next time. I am currently using Motul RBF600 fluid. Are you saying the Penrite is better or just less expensive? I'm currently running 6 degrees of negative camber and 5 degrees of postive castor on the front end.

Thanks Matty
