Ah, I see, says the blind man to the deaf person over the broken telephone...

Well, then I'm happy as a pig in sh!t. And I presume an all up weight of 715kgs would probably classify as "not heavy" then...

What did you pay for your box? I got mine for R2000, and the place I got it from has a mountain of them lying around... and they are selling them as 21R/T50 boxen...

nope that is most definately not a "21R" box or otherwisely known to be a T50......You got yourself a very nice box. The T50 is by all means too an awesome box to have, but I've seen people rate the W57/8/9 boxen to be able to hande 300HP easily, and if the car it's in, is not heavy, probably a little bit more...

These are some Toyota gearboxes. From left to right they are - T50, W50, W58, R158. Shamelessly copied from here

ours is the one 2nd from the right....
same as the W57 only the 5th gear differs...
and the w59 with a very short 1st gear

a link with some nice pictures of the T50

Mmmmm, here in ZA we normally say, "'n Boer maak 'n plan". It directly translates into "a Farmer makes a plan", but it rather serves as a saying, referring to the ingenuity of people.

3Rotor, if you take a quick look at the box I have, in the pictures I attached to my earlier post, do you think that mine is also of the W58 stable? It does look exactly the same as yours, and study the photos as much as I like, I can't find a difference...

In Australia we here a lot about "Aussie ingenuity" and in New Zealand they talk about "Kiwi ingenuity", do you South Africans have a similiar phrase? because you seem to have plenty of ingenuity.

It looks exactly the same as the one I've got behind my 4AGZE, which is the 21R... I don't know, maybe I inadvertently picked up one of those good boxen as well...???

going hydraulic is the easy part here.... a bigger problem is the fact that the fork angle is such that the slave wants to be where the starter sits on the Nissan bellhousing...

I was actually aiming for a T50..... but then I saw these boxen on the shelf and well.... from some sites, this box, worse case, being a W57 wich apparently is exaclty the same as the W58, appart from it's 5th gear ratio... is good for 300+HP...

is does however have the steel plate.... which seem to be a telling thing for it being the very rare w58 box....
