traction is a huge problem with the NA sr20 that is with the stock diff.
Dont know the link or ste but google 'drag calcultor' and some thing will come up that asks size, weight, engine hp, gearing etc and it will estimate it for you

I'm with Dattodude. I've seen SR20DE powered 1200s dip into the 14's so I would imagine a mid 15 would be achievable with a CA18DE.

I've got a ca18de in my 1200 wagon. I'm not sure what it runs yet but i'm thinkin that maybe it could do a 16 sec pass on a good day. I'll let you guys no if i take it down the quarter before i put a turbo onto it.

I would estimate 15.5sec 1/4 as a best time on a stock engine.

CA18DE Stock: 130hp weight:113kg
CA18DET Stock: 174hp weight:128 kg

The torque made by the DET would make it a significantly better acclerator (something those horsepower figures don't show).

If a roughly stock CA18DET is good for around 13's/14's, I'd still say a CA18DE might make high 14's but more likely 15's - particularly if you have stock diff and suspension in the ute. (and not running slicks)

You seen this in the wiki? (There are no CA18DE but the L20 is closeish in torque I'm guessing.)

http://wiki.datsun1200.com/index.php/1/4_mile_time_log

My guess would be 15's?
