cut and shut was not an approved method in vic for a couple of years now... its always a last resaort repair anyway.

welds would be stronger but what about the metal around it?

I never personally had a problem with it, except for that honda civic vtir that was cut right dwon the middle like the early civic in malcom.... it did not have the quick release handle but split when it hit another car anyway

shame its not legal to do it.... in vic.

Not sure on Vic but isn't it legal as long as its done by a Licenced Crash Repairer?

Metals metal, the welds are probably stronger than factory, fine in my eyes as long as its true and straight.

that would be my guess, and a damn good idea!

Well, this shows that there has been a ring-in all right, but not what some of us thought. You gotta want a good ute pretty bad to take on a job like that, & it looks like it was done properly, ... & well.

Congratulations on your dedication, & for a job well done. Painting it black is the real test of anyone's body preparation skills, so you're either a brave man, or a dedicated one. Probably both.
Lookin' good.
