if you cant get to the filler plug you wont be able to check the level

maybe find out how much the gearbox takes, dump the oil out and fill it with the correct amount through the shifter hole..

also. how do you guys check the oil in your gearbox. my filler bolt in that close to the tunnel i can even unscrew it out the gearbox.. it will be a pain if you have to drop the box everytime you need to check the oil and things like that. any little tricks to get this done

Hi Campo
When cold mine sits at 80psi at idle. When warm it sits at 40psi. Your oil pressure will rise with your revs but 60 psi when cruising at highway speeds sounds about right.

Where is the grinding sound coming from?

when you say 60 you mean 60psi? that seems enough to me...
it may have been a bit low because there isnt enough oil, check the dipstick to be sure. otherwise keep an eye on it and if it goes anylower then id say get the pump looked at.

as far as the noise it could be many number of things. you might need to be a bit more specific.

gearbox bearings, lack of gb oil, lack of diff oil...

just wondering where abouts the oil pressure gauge should be sitting on a ca18det. its currently sittin at around 60 driving normal then shoots up when on boost. when i drove it back from brisbane it was sitting at around 50..

and also. i get a grind sound when i back off.. can it be that cause it sits that low to the ground that the tailshaft is on such an angle it makes that sound... i dont think its in the diff. its got a fairly new centre in it..

any help would be great. thanks
