Hey there Wombat

Yeah for sure - we were supposed to be there last weekend but I couldnt get any non turbo replacement pistons in time for the rebuild so I had to miss it. I was seriously unhappy about it cause that little Misubishi Mirage (ex factory backed car) is the only thing quicker than me in Targa C & I was so hoping for the perfect start - a championship win in my rookie year, but alas, he might now get back to back champs cause I doubt I can make up the points difference.

You mean Shane Bonds 240 yeah? Thats a great car & he's a really sweet steerer as well. His car is a 2.8 litre turbo I think & he is doing mid 1's (Basterville) which is super quick. The best i got was lowish 4's but should maybe hit mid 3's once back.

I am hoping that next season with the turbo I will nearly be around the low 1's as well.

Hey Wombat - do you have a car you run there? Were you at Round 1?

will you be bringing the car up to Symmons for some of the races. How do your times compare with Scando in the Green and Black 240Z?

You could try posting it to YouTube? (I actually don't know how to do that though I don't think it is too tricky as so many people have done it)

yeah, my parents have a big house with a massive garage (it can hold 6 cars when clean) so we have some room to play. At present we have an FX Holden (race car), a one owner all original EH Holden Special, an HR Premier 9back to bare metal) & my 1200 Coupe so its crowded but fun!

At our first race meet we were doing low 4 second laps (Baskerville raceway). In my division we can do 3's flat but then get put into the next category so we are positioned nicely for this season - we are currently half a second of the pace of the current class champion so we are a little surprised already!

Next season with the new engine we will hit division 2 & hopefully be positioned well.

I have video footage but i dont know how to post it cause the file size would be way to high.

I used to live in Elwood, which made me think you would struggle to fit a race car in the typically tiny garages of Elwood.

Not a bad way to do it really. Have the workshop separate - a separate state is a little further than I was thinking....

Keen to hear how it goes.

Great stuff mate. Sounds like it will be an absolute weapon next season.

Hey Matty

I actually purchased the car "built" here in Melbourne in November last year with the ambition to simply put in on the track & go but alas, there was nothing of the sort.

While the car was complete, since then we have rebuilt it from the ground up plus all this -

Motec M4 Pro, brake upgrade, re spray, seat, caster/camber, harness, Sparco steering wheel.

In addition to this, due to a big end bolt coming loose during race 4, we are also putting in a new FJ20 - custom high compression pistons, mild/hot cam, balanced crank, balanced rods, head work etc.

Running a little sick, we made 119 kW at the wheels so with new engine we hope to make about 130 kW which i understand is quite good for a non turbo.

For next season we have begun building an FJ20 turbo version which should have approximately 255 - 265 kW at the wheels.

Yeah Mildman thats right - I fly back to Tasmania for each race meeting. I have a proper set up back in Hobart - engine builder, engineer etc. We have another race car there as well so its much easier.

Fantastic car mate! How long have you owned it? Did you build it yourself?
