*******HELP*********
I have picked up the E15 dizzy from the wreckers and started to do the swap. I was following the wiki article as below. Then it occured to me - PROBLEMS!!!

If I follow these directions to the letter my gear will sit about 3mm too high compared to the original.

I have noted that in the article it says the hole on the shaft is too low for the one on the gear but mine is the other way around.

Now I have noticed that on the replacement dizzy from the wreckers, it has Astra N12 written on it. Is there a difference between the pulsar and Astra in this year model? I didn't worry about it at first because I just thought they were same dog, different fleas.

Does anyone have some advice for me.

Thanks Unfamilia, You say you just wired it in with the same coil etc? I didn't think you could do that.

What are the advantages/disadvantages anyone??

Also I have noted that a couple of people have noted this swap as a performance upgrade, any figures on this? I want it simply caus I'm lazy with points.

late model gear is same on a15 and a12/a14.

its same for early a12 too from memory (used a early a12 in my old mid mount a12 worked fine).

im using e15 dizzy, just wired it in, same coil and with resistor too. works 100%.

great spark.

I was thinking of making a spare one up for future use as they arnt rebuildable like the bluebird ones (curcit board etc).

Do you need specail tool to drill the clip hole in?

Yep, thanks for the reply TnP, much appreciated, that's a page I have looked at actually and its exactly what the tech section says, see HERE

as I said this only really covers changing whe gears etc not really what was done with all of the other wiring eg ballast resistor, and what else is needed. I dont want to pull out my dizzy only to find out that the elec one needs "x" part that I should have grabbed from the wreckers too.

Another Question I have thought of and I'll do a search but maybe someone can save me the time, My donor dizzy will be from a late A12 (dizzy near no 3 cyl), is there any difference between this gear and an A15? I am assuming not because the e15 swap isn't limited to any particular A series.

Must be the week for electronic dizzy threads but I didn't want to hijack the other one where someone was selling them.

My question is - I have organized to get an Electronic dizzy from an E15 from the wreckers, what else should I grab while I am there? i.e. is there anything else needed for this conversion?

Had a look at the wiki article and it only really related to changing over the gears and mounting to the engine. On the other dizzy swap articles, it had a list of the things needed but this one only really talks about the dizzy itself and new cap and rotor.

P.S. I know to grab the coil, Exactly what do I do with the wires on the Ballast resistor?
