It could be that it is your transmission gearing that is causing your lag.

Does your transmission have aftermarket close ratio gearing or stock gearing?

There is a big gap between stock 2nd and 3rd gears which may drop a high rpm built motor below its torque/power rpm level when it is in the lower rpms of 3rd gear.

Just an idea.

If your Sunny is anything like my old one, it will understeer like a SOB!!!

Illd say try a higher ratio diff, or muck around with tire sizes to the same effect.

If you go low profile 14" tires a 165/55 is about as small as you can get. Thats what i used to run and they about the same diamiter as the standard 12" rubber, smaller if anything! about 530 in height.

Good luck Friday!

good luck friday, look forward to reading the results of another giant slaying A12 datto

as for the suspension have you looked at more camber on the front suspension ?? (top of the wheels pulled in at the top more than the bottom) would help with the "turn in" on dirt ... do you run on an oval/circle track ?? or are there left and right hand turns ??

Lol year girls can be pretty nasty somtimes! Iv'e bin kicking guys asses for years on the track. When you win they come up with unbelievably lame excuses. I Raced against this guy who was a year older than me and had just started racing in jnr sedans. I had been in on the track since i was like 11. i wasnt too positive that i could beat him. he was racing a big celica 2L and i was stuck in the little 1200. he was i spoilt bugga an his dad was super rich. he had the ultimate car but he didnt have the driving skills. I chalenged him and took him out easy . Ater a few meetings when he tried to control his car at my speed he put it in the wall! Practice pays off after a wile and i was glad i started out the hard way with a bomy car so i didnt have to learn it later. .....
The my cams a mid range and we got low profile tyres ( i think 14s) . We are also looking to ajust the diff ratio. I realy dont know how its going to travel until i get it out there this friday night! I will let you know how it goes! Thanks 4 all ur advice it was realy helpfull! Wish me luck

Just a girl................that's no exscuse.

I can remember banging handle bars round turn 9 (100 MPH corner) at Willow Springs Raceway back in the 80's. The Gal called her team PMS racing , she was super aggressive , fun to race withand a very good rider. When I had a Showroom Stock C Miata I was racing, I once had a great dice with a Dutch gal named Eeka.........she'd race you clean or if you wanted to try and intimidate her she'd give it right back
Just a girl............thats like saying rally driver Michelle Mouton drove ok for a girl.........if your looking for more corner speed you're not just a girl , you're a RACER

Two things occur to me on this:

1. what is the circumfrnace of the tires on there now.......I.E. are you using a taller porifle than say a 60 series.

2. When you say sport cam what kind of cam are we talking about spec wise. If you using something similar to a NISMO option 2 cam AND you're stuck with the stock gearbox the car will drop 3000 RPM's between 2nd and 3rd. That cam will do nothing below 5500 RPM and with what your motor is limited to it like isn't pulling past 7800-8000 range.................so when you shift to 3rd the motor falls off the cam.

If its a cam ground with mid-range in mind then chage your overall gearing so that your in 3rd all the time........your likely loosing time having to shift than you gain with the burst of power in second.

Hmmm ok . My suspension has been lowered. It just doesnt seem to have enough guts like second dose to get those fast jumpstart takoffs that i need to beat those lil #### of sharaides . I have had trouble fiding the right rayieo tyres because 13 inch are very rare now and you seem to have to get them retredded.
