A14 have a pin height (centre of gudgeon to top of crown) of 32.5mm
A15 has 30mm
If you put A14 pistons with an A15 crank the pistons will stick outthe top of the bore by 2.5mm

Has anyone ever thought about those A15 pistons? they're the reason the motor has less compression than the other A series motors

My engine is A14 block and A15 crank
No sump clearancing required on mine

Rods are same length as mentioned
A15 pistons

Essentially your building an A15

A15 crank fits fine. You need the A15 pistons, rods are the same as is everything else except the sump. The bigger crank hits on the A14 sump.

1. Not without custom pistons & other mods, but you can use an A14 crank with stock parts & relatively little work.

2. In practical terms, the two heads are essentially the same for Ausrtalian domestic models. There is a round port head that was used in the US & elsewhere, & some of these heads/engines have found there way here through the years.

EDIT
Doh,.... I thought the question read A15 crank in A12 block. My appologies for dumb response.
A14 & A15 blocks are dimentionally interchangeable.
