For me the $1180 extra for the LSD is worth it , we got ours 15 years ago at that time a new one was $750. I was lucky and found someone selling all their 1200 race stuff for $700 which included 1 good LSD and when in need of repair plus a ton of other stuff.....I drove 650 miles round trip to pick it all up but it was worht it.

So end of the day you have to figure out if it's worth it for you.......for me it was. Same thing goes for the close ratio 4 speed , been looking for one cheap but I'm likely going to have to pony up.

even my r31 diff conversion was cheaper at around $400 if i ever get around to getting an LSD

haha yeah lockers do make U-turns a whole lot more fun, but an LSD would do that too.

Smartest thing I have read here for a while.

I remember the observation, "Young drivers are the most skilled, & the most killed" It might pay to have a think why.

Well I think we've demonstrated the 2 camps here;

Throw me in the save money for LSD for all the reason listed. LSD is much better but well they can be exspensive.

Lockers are cheap and do the trick you just have to modify how you drive the thing.........read plug your brain in or the tried and true method of slow down.

So if your a cheap arse (I am) then weld em up and see if it's worth it for you (get an extra diff)...........if don't like it you can always take it back out.

Sorry kiddies feel free to throw rocks at me for this next comment................Having raced with open diff , LSD , locker in both wet and dry..........it aint the rear end that's dangerous it's the tosser just behind the steering wheel that cuase most offs. My fav stutdent at the track during his first ever day............."I keep coming real close to spining in 4 what should I do?"

ive only lost it once in my car....possibally the only corner in geelong that turns to ice when wet
first time driving in town, happened to be raining, looped round rather fast and ended up facing the wrong way...i dont actually blame the locker, bald tyres and the rain is my excuse

only thing i regret was that i had mates in the car and 2 other mates sitting at the lights that i ended up facing

was all good fun though, nothing like clutching it in 3rd in the wet with a locker
