actually i think it only ended up costing me around $200, would be more like $400 if i got an LSD....but i didnt

sikdatto1200s right about how to do it yourself, but getting the axle tubes in and out is kinda hard...need a fairly good hydrulic press that will actually fit inside the diff, then a press that is big enough to fit the diff in it and capable of pressing around 20 tonne

dad just hapened to have this stuff so it was rather easy for me, only payed to buy the diff gears($30), got the diff for free, $110 for one axle cut down, $30 caliper kits and $20 paint

Im not exactly sure but i think both axle tubes are removed and shotened/rewelded, the short axle becomes the long one and the long one needs shortening and resplining. Mounts need to be cut off and weld on 1200 ones in correct position. I guess brake lines and handbrake cables would also need sorting out. Doing the mounts yourself would save a fair whack of dosh no doubt

How bout a diff to handle a CA (150-200rwkw)? I was gonna get a r31 diff cut down.
Does any one have a idea of what the cost is to get a diff shortened?

hey fellas lately i have been thinking about putting an L16/L18 in a 1200 sedan and would like to know if a 1200 ute diff would hold up?

The H165 differential that you will find under most 1200 Utes was used in the Datsun 1600, 180B, & early 200B wagons. All of these weighed more than a 1200 & all had L series engines.
Additionally, H165's were used under the series 1 & 2 Aussie Bluebirds except 4 speed wagons, so, .... what was the question again?

no worries, basically a straight bolt in, you need the 120y u bolts and bottom brackets. Tailshaft flange may be different to not sure on that one. The borgwarner ones have a cover on the back of diff that unbolts, think there from aust 120y sedans
