I bought the 1000 of Stevo in 03 and raced it for the first time in round 1 of the vic state series at Mallalla in S.A. in 2004.
I raced it foe 2 years and then sold it to Rob Evans in 05. He raced it in part of the 05 and then the 06 season. He put it in the wall at turn 2 at winton ate the end of last year.

what a shame as this shell had to many mods done to it for weight reduction.
I really like the idea of a micra de stroked and turboed good thinking even for a lightweight 1200 U2ltr racer.

Good to hear from you peddler as you may have read earlier in the posts if the car has not sold by next week it will be rebiult back to its former glory and who knows i might invite you down from a drive when she is done.....

You wanna be careful offering that champs... i might take you up on that offer

I wouldnt be to worried, I am sure that everyone means well.

Yes Craig, i infact told John to make sure that you knew that there wasnt much happening within the NSW Under 2litre Sports Sedan scene. And although i didnt really want to sell the car, there wasnt much good keeping it if there wasnt going to be any racing for it in NSW. In saying that at the time the U2L SS scene in Victoria and South Australia was and still is pumping along.

Someone down south should grab this thing, it the right hands it is without a question one of the best cars in its class in the country.

I am infact in the middle of a build on another 1200 Coupe, this time i am building a 400hp CA18 Improved Production car. When i get some time, i will get some pics of the build so far... at the moment it is has a full cage welded in and getting the pedal box and seat/steering position sorted. its turning out like an absolute weapon that i hope will give Bozzy a run for his money in his new R32GTR Improved Production car.

Geees some of you carry on ........
The car is not lost its sitting at my house ready to be repaired ... its not the first and wont be the last racecar to be biffed.... all thats damaged is the shell and it can be easily reshelled...... as for regreting not buying it it can be bought now .... if you cant reshell it i can do it for you but you will pay for my time to do so ......as for the price , alot of know it all's have put there
two bits worth on what the car is worth ( with all due respect to steve1000 and bozman ...who obviously know what they are taking about from expierence)..... the car is mine and i can ask what i want if its to pricey dont buy and if the car is a piece of racing history it is only going up in price ..... Sorry guys if i sound rude but had enough of want-to-be experts .

Good to hear from you peddler as you may have read earlier in the posts if the car has not sold by next week it will be rebiult back to its former glory and who knows i might invite you down from a drive when she is done.....

one of my biggest regrets was not buying that car off you Marty. John Taylor actually talked me out of it as the under 2 litre class was dead in NSW, but i would have been great to have a piece of racing history in my garage. Im not sure if it was $5500 either at the time (i'll stand corrected) but I know it was bloody cheap and great value. Anyway its a great motor car thats now lost very sad but that happens..I always thought Id own it one day...

I sold the car complete to Martin Rogers for $8,500 and he used it as a talking piece for when his mates came over for a beer haha. He never drove the thing!
From there I think he sold the car to stevo1000 and then I lost track of it.

HEHE... No, i never did because unless i wanted to race against $300k 700hp injected V8 purpose build tube chassis sports sedans monsters that could be described as bullets on wheels... AKA Barnes Pontiac as well as that boof head in the carbon fibre and chrome molly jag and his mates.

I bought the car when there was a lot of talk about the NSW arm of the under 2 litre sports sedan scene picking up. It ended up with most of the i think 5 cars that were running also getting sick of the lack of support from ASSA and never any opportunities other than getting in the way of the big boys.

I sold the car to Steve as Boz has said and i hadnt heard much about it since. Pity... would of loved to get out in that thing. The only time we did, we ended up blowing up the gearbox

Gday John ,

Thank you for your post regarding the little dato ..... It has been great to hear from previous owners such as stev1000 and youself . With respect to the dato 1000s future you have helped me decided what will happen to the little beast.........

Here goes.....

The motor and box will be sold and the rest of the car is be reshelled by myself and my good mate Barry Proudfoot from BJP automotive who is the guru on racecars down here........ once the car is ready estimating 12 months the engine and box to be used will be decided.
My idea was to run an a10 with turbo running in under 2 litre and barry likes the idea of a late model import micra motor with a turbo .
P.S i bought the car damaged and the previous owner spent the money on the rebiuld it was done by cave hill performance in melbourne and made 100kw@wheels or approx 175 hp at the flywheel.......
i have a reciept outlining everthing was replaced.

Ah my old car is dead

I bought that car as a roller from Alan Pitt in the mid 90's when it was red, white and blue. Alan use to run a small A series in the beast but I decided it needed the A15.
I stripped the car and painted it yellow, put the JTS built A15 and 5 speed in it.
I debut the car at Wakefield in 1990 something and finished 3rd at the Under 2 litre Sports Sedan Nationals.
I think it was 96 when I was running at Amaroo and the bloody brakes failed and I went head on into stop go corner.
Not a great deal of damage but enough for me to re paint the front..and yes I painted it red.
Best experience with this car was running at the very last Amaroo meeting held before it shut in 1997 and I won the Open Sports Sedan race at the end of the day against some serious CHEV powered beasts.
I sold the car complete to Martin Rogers for $8,500 and he used it as a talking piece for when his mates came over for a beer haha. He never drove the thing!
From there I think he sold the car to stevo1000 and then I lost track of it.

If you can get that much for the engine, box and other bit's Joe SELL THEM!!!

The gearbox was a close ratio box that we made up out of a standard dogleg 5 speed. I cannot remember exactly the ratios we used but it was an awesome box. As the option boxes were not strong enough for the A15 considering the load from the slicks etc we decided to build this box considering the power we were producing. I know the box was still in the car when Martin sold it so I am assuming that it is still in it

PS Who is charging you that much to build your engines??
