EDIT: it's off its stand, and it's seized A12 and 3N71B (3 speed auto) are gone

120Y's have a HUGE engine bay

tomorrow I will (hopefully) finish wiring it,
and possibly paint the engine bay...

EDIT: it now has all the front suspension in, 4 wheels on, and the A12 and 3N71B are only held in by four bolts (gearbox crossmember ones and the speedo cable

alas the suspension has to come out agin for wheel bearings, castor rod and sway bar standoff bushes... and a inner left tierod end (I got violent with it) and it'll be a rolling concern... yaay

I was going to take some pictures of my accomplishments but ran out of time

first thing to do next time I get up to the farm, is to ditch the seized A12 and 3N71B - not before removing the Distributor and waterpump though

actually it's spare tyre well is rotted out!

as it's rotted out I was thinking of putting a HUGEdrop tank in! or at least a flat bit of tin or steel

unlike the previous pics, it now has two taillights, 4 doors, handbrake taillight and hanbrake wiring is in, the passenger side front suspension is in,(ex stocky 120Y - has odd size springs and "Mutant" calipers),

as is the old wiring is gone too (yaay!)

I've learnt there are a few differences between an July '74 and a March '77 120Y

floorpan for one - I can't fit my front seats from The Defect into The Defect III!

yeah I love to have a L18/3N71B combo myself, Pigdog

good points not much rust
apart from the seized A12 and 3N71B boat anchor there's not much left mechanically

it has:

bodyshell with windscreen and rear window still in it
steering column
steering box
draglink
rhf suspension
both castor rod brackets
a handful of f$%*d wiring
brake lines and fuel line
and now the dashboard frame
LH taillight
and taillight ring

and as it's a july '74 120Y it has a H145...

But I have 2 spare BW 68's...

some one was wrong to dissagree, well maybe with peak power....but the jump in torque is huge compared to the weight gain

i have started on my new project car (formerly my parts car) it's a july '74 120Y 4 door sedan, it's pretty straight exept the roof around the B pillar is a bit flat from where I got dad to pick it up with the front end loader today...

it also has the dashboard frame from the (original) defect in it too! (put it in today - thought it's be a nightmare - was a piece of cake - although doing the same and hooking up wiring too will probably not be so easy...

"The Defect III" was going to be caled "The Shiny Shovel" but someone had a dissagreement with the power to weight ratio of an L18
