Speaking off,
I just picked myself one up too. R31 complete disc to disc from a wagon, 4.11 the guy said. $200. Not too shabby. Now to find a fairlane
And about the wreckers being nice to you Pigdog, one of the guys at G's wouldn't stop talking to me about this guy in an orange and black 1200 and how he put a L20b in it. Eventually when I crawled under a Stanza to grab a tailshaft he stopped talking because he couldn't see me any more. Surprised there isn't a picture of you framed by the front door, hehehe

XRs should all have them

but i guess a big boaty fairlane would be the go as they wouldnt be able to even spin the wheels so the LSD should be all nice and healthy

Fairlanes are the go for the LSD centres.....

I've found them a bit hard to get in the falcons until I discovered nearly all the Fairlanes have them.

EA/EB equivalent Fairlanes...... UC or something they're called.

geez dattodude, if you were paying $600-900 you would want the diff to be perfect, you can buy r31 skylines complete for less than that
as it costs all of about $400 to buy a skyline diff and a falcon LSD(both complete diffs)....put them together and you have a second hand skyline LSD and a spare open falcon diff to sell
or maybe wreckers are just nice to me and sell stuff cheap

yeah rock1200, thats correct as far as I know. Pigdog is the guru there.

Remember that some commodores and falcons used the same diff centre, so you could possibly just get an open centre unit, and swap the diff centres in i think.

edit : Something that I forgot to add about these diffs, is that only the skyline Silouhette came with LSD. The GTS2, apart from bieng an import and even rarer than the Silouhette, it wasnt live axle rear end. It was a IRS setup, or at least thats what the dude that I spoke to about them said yesterday, and I trust what he says.

what!!!

Thats gotta suck.. ahh well, its now going to be a matter of ratting around for those older parts.

On an upnote, I didnt end up going to pick a part. I called a friend of a friend, and he had a r31 skyline LSD complete sitting out the back of his now closed wrecking yard! and he only sold it to as a favour of my friend!!

Every wrecker I called (about 15) didnt have anything except the previously mentioned $800 open centre, and pick a part didnt know if they had any diff housings, but said that they had r31s in stock.

at the end of the day, im happy with the find, and the price was reasonable for such a rare diff, and I now have a diff to drop off to Beattie for the bulk job he is organising......

beattie I throw some beer your way if your arm needs twisting...
