I hope you got some pictures of Xan to show me & you sound like the very proud dad that you have every right to be.
It was probably more exciting than standing around at a divey service station for an hour, eating a pie & a sausage roll & looking at a bunch of Turkeys. [real ones, they were down the back]
My stock 1200 Coupe with auto aquitted itself well under the circumstances & I had a very pleasant chat with Ianey on the way out & back. Turns out that he lives only 3 blocks from where I spent my formative years.
We headed off home after the burnouts [see vids] since there were no other activities planned other than perhaps another race back to Windsor & possibly some more impromptu donuts on main roads, something that my Coupe struggles to do. I also had an extra 100 to 140K further to drive than most, & all in a sweet running stocker, so I needed a bit more time than the others to make it home.
It was a very plasant run home with the ever reliable A series purring happily all the way & if it isn't fast, then at least I got good mileage, .... Datsun Saves.
Summary.
Unfortunate weather, nice road with some good twisties, very ordinary destination.
I probably should have stayed at home.
It has been many many years since I drove my very pukka British car [1952 Morris Minor] through the area out to Windsor & couldn't believe the transformation. I didn't recognise a thing. The village of Kellyville was completely unrecognisable & the only reason I knew I was there was from a sign on the roadside. Unbelieveable.
