Thanks mildman a very good read..

once the car has been reg'd i will either be running a caltrack system/ watt's link..
or a upper trangulated 2link system(preferred)...

semi slicks for the track/ radials for the street..
no a cage just yet, so will be adding a bit of bracing to the car for now..

i will be getting some decent adj rear shocks(koni), wind down the windows(lower cg) and im ready for cornerweighting..

I think that corner weighting is a very wortwhile task. Tappets car seems to have enough adjustment to make it appropriate.

If you have access to scales why wouldn't you do it? You have all quoted the alternatives, which are great, but the final touch is corner weighting.
Build your house on good foundations, unless you have had your 30 yo chassis on a jig you are kidding yourself not doing it.

1) geometry: camber, front roll centre at least, rear too if you are going to do anything about that with a panhard/watts/mumford link, castor and toe
2) steering geometry: check for bump steer and ackerman at least.
3) tyres - good semi slicks. normal road tyres won't be responsive enough to take advantage of subtle changes like wedge.
4) cage - can't seriously set up a car for the track without at least a basic cage. it will totally transform the car's handling and alter your corner weights more dramatically than anything else you move around in the car.
5) I dunno, wind your windows down to lower your Cg

I do corner weighting every time i set the w/a up for a track , Mainly set it up on the even weights on both sides , But if track has mainly r/h or l/h turns it tend to put a bit more weight on the inner rear wheel , with out going overboard , as i want it still to pull up under brakes evenly

I thought the advantage of adjustable height suspension was more about altering the weight transfer characteristics of the car.

So once you drive it on the circuit you can start to tune the heights of each corner of the car based on the amount of over and understeer you get...

"a corner higher than the others will induce weight transfer to the opposite corner decreaseing the load on the adjusted corner."

or

"a corner lower than the others will induce weight transfer to that corner increasing the load."

well if you have done all that then you dont have much left .... but when conering and fule coolant ect ect starts moveing around ,does this make the weighting a wast of time ?

for road cars that do an ocassional track day? much better off sorting out alot of other things that will have bigger impact on your handling than cross weighting.

Agree. I can think of a few things.
1. Better brakes.
2. Firmer springs in the suspention.
3. More power.
4. Better tyres.
