Any tuning tips for our old engine to rev more freely?
Sure:
* Weber 32/36 carb
* 2" exhaust system
* Keep the A15 revved way up

You'll go from 0-100km/h in 16 seconds to only taking 12 seconds. Note that new minivans do it in 8 seconds.

engine oil additive

Not something I am very fond of. Rather use a good quality engine oil or full synthetic.

I think its a bit pointless to worry about peak hp figures for an old pushrod n/a 4cyl, as the dyno print will not impress anyone. whats more important is that the basic tuning and breathing mods will make the cars engine more throaty and willing to rev, so more fun to drive.
if u dont want to rebuild the engine because its in good condition already, then using good friction modifying additives like slick 50 or Nulon i find always gives about 5% more power and economy, as well as smoother and cooler running. plus extending the life of the engine.

Spot on, a "HOTDOG" is just a straight through muffler that is shaped like a HOTDOG. Some people also call em resisators as well.
