4AGE = Legal, but with heaps of stuffing around to fit into a 1200
I don't know about that, I bought a 4AGZE, a conversion bell housing for a W58 celica box, bolted them together and spent the next hour to slide the engine gearbox combo in and out about 3-4 times, and beating out a little space around the box in the tunnel. I eventually found out this wasn't really needed. The biggest job was to manufacture the engine mounts, which took me about an hour after the original towers were cut off. So no stuffing around really.
I might be a bit biased as well, but where reliability and availability of parts are concerned, I seriously think you are better of doing the 4AGE/ZE than a rotor. On this ground the CA/SR engines are just as good, I haven't really seen the one being more/less reliable than the other, and both make big numbers in the power area.
Here in SA at least there are more performance parts available for the 4AGE and it's variants than say the CA/SR engines or the rotors. And because of their popularity there is also a wealth of knowledge around.
I get goose bumps just thinking about a proper rotor setup, but I'm a bit weary of people's knowledge of them in ZA, and their parts are extremely difficult to come by and expensive to boot. However, it's always good to be different too...
Have a look at the pics in my profile, and you can see the whole build... I did the 4AGZE with turbo...
