Well I do already have a Stanza crossmember.... By Sunny you don't mean a B310 do you? I think I've only ever seen an old Sunny once and it looked like a cross between a 1200 and a Stanza... is that right? If the photo albums worked I could find out easily enough....

doesnt matter how much heavier a 1600 is, just that they are heavier and more expensive

could get a sunny and use stanza crossmember to fit the L series

Problem is that I don't have another 1200 to bolt it into, don't suppose you have a buggered old shell anywhere? I was thinking of putting it into an L series Datsun to save myself a lot of hassle.... but then it wouldn't be a 1200 :(.... how much heavier are 1600s compared to 1200s?

how good is that 180b head? i need one so i can build my engine

and if you were impressed with mine, then whacking the stuff you have together and putting it in the 1200 should have it going a fair bit better

trade you the L series setup for the CA stuff.....just for testing purposes

Hey All,
I'm getting sick of my Coupe stting around waiting for all the CA18 bits to come back from the engine shop so I think I need to build another Datsun whilst I'm waiting. In my garage I have a whole mound of L series engine bits and after sitting in Pigdog's Sedan the other day I remember why I love L series so much.

I also have to build an engine for tafe, so I'm thinking of doing an L20b. Current plan is:
L20b bottom end with L18 pistons, A87 closed chamber head with the U67 cam, 44mm 280z valves in that, twin Sidedraft Webers and extractors. I figure this should run around 9.5:1. With 280z flat tops would be around 10 (but I don't have any of those).

I already have all the bits except for the extractors. Any of the L series guys have any thoughts on that? Not aiming for power here (that's what my CA is for), just want a fun torquey engine that has that oh-so-angry sidedraft sound.
