Some uni joints are pressed and crimped into the housings, so can not be easily replaced when worn.
Replacable unis have a retaining clip or cer-clip fitted to the uni, so when to clips are removed they can be carfully knocked apart.

Some Nissan/Datsuns have replacible unis, and some have press/crimp unis.

Pigdog, the r31 unis are small, and the shaft size is only about 2 1/4 from memory, but the tube is a bit thicker than some others around. I used it on my old ca18det with out a problem. But saying that, it only put out 140rwkw's so now I'm now in the process of getting all brand new shafts made, using 3 inch tube with large replacable unis. You can never be to carefull.

I got a quote through Hardi Spicer for a brand new custome shaft with heavy duty uni's for $450. This was to suit a SR20DE in a 1200 ute fitted with a R31 diff.

Its worth it if you ask me. You can call the nearest Hardi Spice with what you want and get them to ship to you. Dont go cheap cause bad vibrations get annoying and a broken uni can be very embarrising and DANGEROUS
