Do you know where I could find one for a '78 B210?

Thanks DaveB. Yes please can you send me pictures? I will send you email.

My muffler has been bad for two months. I've been debating what to do, and am leaning towards a GX-style system (with pre-muffler).

GX Exhaust System
Does anyone know if the GX used 1.5 inch piping?

Hi Dave, the exhaust arrived. It's definitely a 30 year old part. It is exactly as shown in the auction picture. I think the price they're asking is fair. I wouldn't however buy it to install on a sedan. It's a steel muffler, pipe & tip, coated with a heavy black paint that is flaking off in places, where mild surface rust shows. It's also the original small diameter pipe like a factory system, so it would be great with a fairly stock 1200 engine, but might be too small for a performance engine. I'm installing mine on my restored original 1200 coupe. I think if they had a correct system for your sedan I'd recommend going for it. I think you'd be better off having a good muffler shop build one for you. If you like I can send you a bunch of detailed pictures.

Hey Dave, I bought the same part from "Vintage Imports Inc" off e-bay.(from a previous auction, they obviously had more than one) They charged only $40 shipping. I've bought many 1200 parts from them & have always had good luck. The part hasn't arrived but when it does I'll let you know how it is. Stebro is actually a Canadian company that still make exhaust systems for European 'exotics'. (Ferrari etc). Their systems are very expensive but of very high quality. I'll bet you could make the coupe system fit on a sedan. I'm guessing that the auction price is probably 1/4 or less of the total current new value. If you know a good muffler shop they could probably install it with very few mods. (I'm guessing that the overall length is probably the biggest difference).
