Probably reconditioned second hand at about $1600.
The builder is a dude called Phil, up past Windsor in Sydney. BRS Motorsport..or something like that. He's builds 500+ horsepower motors all the time, so he really knows his stuff. He'll
source the turbo for a small commission. We decided on about 300, because there's only so much power needed to push a 700kg Datsun along. And I would like it to remain street driveable/
cruisable. It is exciting though. I've got to finish the bodyshell mods so that I can get it stripped back and sent to the painters. I'm putting that off due to the expense. I don't want
to go completely broke, probably cost $4k-6k for the paint. It'll be an expensive Datsun in the end, but I'm not doing it to sell it...I promise.

Hey Chris
That's great news!! You must be pretty excited
about it despite the money factor!
How long is it going to take? Who did you decide to go with? That horsepower figure is comparable
with the SR20DET surely.
Are you going to source the GT25 used or new?

Hey guys, my Ca18 is at the engine builders. Appears I'll be running a GT25/30 turbo with 20 thou over forged pistons (apparently any larger and the bores can go out of shape losing
power). To get new cams apparently is quite expensive, as it involves conversion to solid lifters, which means new valves and a whole lot of headaches. So I won't be doing that. Also my
new parts have finally been dispatched from South Africa, so that's quite exciting. The engine is aimed at the 300 horsepower range, although the builder reckons 500hp is possible but
that'd cost about AUS$12,000.

Interesting how quickly rebuild costs can get out of hand. I also put in my order for new number plates "GTR-110" in Federation white on black, so that'll be cool.

Take it easy.
Chris.
