One problem, if you lower the tax on fuel you'll increase the tax on something else.

John Howard said the GST wouldn't be introduced on petrol, but lo and behold, it was. Maybe all those great tax breaks Costello gave the big end of town actually would have been better spent on infrastructure and lowering the GST and tariffs. Removing the GST alone would drop prices 20-25% (as this tax is applied on three levels).

Ah well, at least I have more money now so I can afford $1.50 a litre for PULP

More to the point, why keep hitting the oil manufacturers around the head, they are producing what we want and for a fair price i reckon.
It's the Gov'mit we should be belting around the head(in Aus at least)with thier obscene taxes and duties.
Take approx.48% off the cost of a litre of unleaded and that is what we should be paying at the pump...just got quite cheap did'nt it,especially for all the work and money that is required to make the stuff.

What sort of investment have past and present Glove-mits put up to collect thier approx. .70c per litre to consolidated revenue.

Green power isnt a load of crap, in NSW new electricity plans are coming out where you pay the same amount as normal electricity. When you sign up the amount of elec you use gets put into the grid from green power, SO IF WE ALL SIGNED UP AT NO EXTRA EXPENSE then it would be 100% green power in the grid... Makes sense to me, if it costs the SAME.
