G25 indicates it "might" be from a newer Ute: G25 at Datsun1200.com

A12S is the standard engine with round ports & a 'S'ingle carb.

OK, ... A12 with front dist [Datsun 1200 engine] came as A12S or A12T [Twin carb, oval ports]
A12 with rear dist came as A12S untill the end of B310 production [about 1982 or so] or as an a12T during the Sunny 120Y GX production run [1974 to about 1976]

All A12's had the smaller 28 & 35mm valve sizes.

ANGE was kind enough to give me a 1200 motor today, and I am now just trying to figure out exactly what it is?

it is obviously a later engine, with a Nissan rocker cover, I removed this to find an ID on the head, and I got G25, which I cant find anywhere in the reference data on here, except that it is maybe an A12S?

can anyone enlighten me on what engine I have and what teh specs are?

thanks
Ryan
