If it sounded like a lawnmower it would prob be a morris engine They sound a bit higher pitch and dont seem to sound to revv as high, to my ears anyway. My boss has minis.

Thank goodness for Austin, and them putting Nissan on the good path.
I was watching The Prisoner on Wednesday. Is it my imagination, or does that Mini Moke sound like a Datsun A12? I've never actually heard a Mini engine before now.

The OHC engine in the roadster is a U20 but both it and the R16 roadster engine are quite closely related to the H20. I think an R16 head might even fit on an H20 bottom end. The H20 is pretty similar to the J series engines and probably evolved from the 1950's Austin engines as the J did only without the siamised ports in the head. They kind of look like a giant A series and I would imagine are plenty tunable as they are pretty sturdy. It's very rare engine here so I'm unlikely to encounter another these days.

H20's are pretty torquey (used in forklifts and trucks so they should be) but they dont rev, they sound like they're going to explode at 4000rpm.
Interesting rocker cover on that one, all my dad's ones have finned alloy rocker covers.

Sure it would go good in a Datto. The H20 was the engine in the Datsun Junior.

but still, would an H20 engine go ok in a DAtto?
Interesting thoughts. As others have said, can get them turbo, can get them LPG..Hmm interesting thoughts.

there probably is a factory turbo for the H ( 2.0 liter ) as it's an industrial engine and are still made, supposedly there was a fuel injection for the A15 petrol forklift engine, but never tried to buy it.
