if you are going to change sizes in an exhaust it's advisable to go down in size as you get towards the end ... not up. eg ... 3.5" dump to cat, 3.0" cat to diff, 2.5" diff to exit ... this way it keeps the velocity of the exhaust gases up. the gases are hot when they come out the engine and as they cool they "shrink" in volume. reducing the dia keeps the velocity up as the gas get cooler. if you go the other way smaller into bigger you loose velocity and the gases tend to float around in the pipe.

Does the brake line get squashed between the diff and the exhaust?

Do you guys think the stainless exhaust gives a better sound than mild steel?? I know the quality is better but some cars sound tinny with stainless. The dump has always looked good. i was also thinking of maybe having the exhaust tip out the side. maybe in front/behind the back weel. I'll have to look into the laws in syd for that. I remember the old sandman panel vans and escorts had them out the side. (different and can look tuff). Hey pigdog it does not suprise me that on your exhaust photos, it seems you have the slicks on Also it looks like your exhaust finishes under the car (not behind) is that for the sleeper look?

i reckon it's all about how much you spend, i plan to spend close to the 1500 dollar mark you pay for what you get i reckon. an ebay built exhaust/muffler didn't get money spent on it improving it's performance it's most likely just a shiny knock off that will most likely sound like s*** (could be wrong tho). im getting a full stainless steel system 2.5 to the cat then 3inch from the cat back with a muffler which i haven't decided on yet, definitely not a cannon tho but there's definitely a dump pipe on the end for sure i've got a 300zx tt that has the same style system and it sound pretty sweet so that s the note im goin for

Quote: at $40 for under a half metre i passed on new pipe that's far too much for any size pipe... just yesterday i bought 1m of 2.5" s/s pipe for $40. And thats with all the recent commodities boom here in aus. has anyone been keeping an eye on the price of cadmium (a key component in s/s)? its unbelievable!!!
