i guess you want to go motorcycle cause it would be reasonably cheap. Personally if i had a little more money I would buy a weber type throttle body assembly form a mob called EFI Hardware in Queensland AUS. They are great thorttle bodies and will bolt straight onto a weber manifold for an A series which are readily available. I would then use electronic ignition and a nice computer like a haltech or an autronic.
The thing would be snappy and give good horsepower and would last forever with regular oil changes.
if you want to save some bucks I would buy a quad throttle setup from a 4AGE toyota with the ecu and loom and adapt it for an A series, You would have to setup a manifold and crank trigger but it would be a nice setup.

Hey Dodgeman, I shouldve mentioned that I do plan on chopping out the A12 for an A14 or A15 and then start modifying that. The thing is here is that I 100% want to remain A series but would like the smoothness of EFI, what Im trying to do is weigh up exactly what options I have to get to that point, I know a little but not alot and this is my first project. Its my 2nd car so it can take me as long as need be to get it right 1st time round.....what a shame that the ground isnt exactly thick with a14s and 15s!
So assuming that I am starting with the bigger lump, what ca we do as far as Motorcycle TBI is concerned?

I have no idea what was available in the UK, but if you're going to put a little pep into your ride, it's often best to start with the best available platform.

In the B series range of cars, the weight rose with each successive model, so the B310 was the heaviest. That A12 is working harder in the B310 than in any other model. The best thing, in my view, is to see if you can source an A14 or a15 engine to use as the basis of your upgrade. These engines will bolt right into your chassis & have so much more to offer.

The bores are 3mm larger, but more importantly, the a14 has a 77mm stroke [that's a 10% increase] & the a15 has an 82mm stroke, & that's a whoping 15.6% [almost 1/2"] increase in the stroke over a 1200 which is where the torque is.
Both these engines use heads with larger ports & larger valves, so even a stock example of either one will yeild a noticeable & usefull increase on power that you can feel.
If you want even more, then these will provide a better platform for performance improvement in the heavier chassis of the B310.

Ive been a member here for a while and have found this site to be by far the most useful and resourceful site out there, I like the fact that you all seem to be A series nuts with an excellent understanding of these fantastic little engines (unfortunatley I havent found them to be as understood over here in the UK).
This brings me to plans for my little beast. I have an 81 b310 Sunny 2 door saloon with a super little a12 in it. I have thought long and hard about what route to take with it, CA/SR/4age swaps, but I still prefer keeping it original and reworking an a series engine. Yes I know that an engine swap would cost less and yield more power in the long run but if I really want an sr powered car I may as well have bought a 200sx!!
I know there have been a few posts about using motorcylce carbs on these engines but has anyone actually used complete motorcycle throttle body injection? Does anybody know what problems I would be likely to encounter with a setup like this? We are very lucky to have a firm called bogg brothers over here that make manifold arrangments for just about any engine, so I guess that takes one problem out of the equation www.boggbros.co.uk. Im guessing that there would be a heap of issues with controlling the fuelling (mega squirt perhaps?)
What are your thoughts on doing something like this? Right now the theory looks sound enough and a little less hassle then making up a complete efi setup ......your help and thoughts would be well appreciated!
