Update ........................
Results in from Eastern Creek -
New engine performed well on dyno and all signs point to a big win
Qualify average (but ahead of Escort - who had a chronic overheating problem)
Escort seizes motor on dummy grid and DNS!
Datsun drives on to shave 2 seconds off qualifying time - all is good - P13 from P15.
Escort puts in the 'all nighter' and fronts up with another engine installed - I'm impressed!!
Race two, not a bad start and leading into turn two there are cars spearing off the track and it's all pretty busy After SC leaves we're off for a three lap sprint and finish without incident - now P9 from P13 Escort actually finishes race in P13 well done!
Race 3 and I get the WORST start ever and promptly undo all the previous good fortune Finish the race intact but suffering brain fade near the end and let the guy I was chasing slip away. Final result is P11 and the car comes home in one piece

Escort DNF with possible blown head gasket. Not a good result for all their late night work but it IS an Escort after all
Final wash up - Datto 3 wins: Escort got nuthin
Next round Oran Park end of June!
Cheers

Update ........
New motor and 260Z box is in and waiting
Dyno tune booked for Friday so let's hope for a good result. Concerned about extra heat so the dyno will hopefully reveal any issues before the Eastern Creek showdown.
Can't wait
Cheers

The result .....
Qualified 1 spot ahead of the esky so we're off to a good start. Race 1, good start and away from the nemesis for a win. Race 2 all went to crap. Second gear start buzzed the clutch and the Escort slipped past Unfortunately he is a graduate of the John Bowe school of driving and was impossible to pass ... I missed a gear passing him and the fire went out After being towed in after some head scratching the problem was the rotor button had sheared it's key
Rear of grid start for race 3 and soon had that Escort in my sights - passed him after the safety car restart and raced away for the victory! Final race - off to a good start and made the early break. Suddenly he's closing in after lap 10 and it's all back on With two laps to go he has accepted there was no victory for him and fell back again
Awesome day of racing and the night was a reall challenge with 30 year old 'glow in the dark' headlights
Best part was racing with your best mate with only a couple of inches between us - made for plenty of grins and tall stories back in the pits!
Can't wait for the creek
Cheers

Same engine? Or has the one from the 180b gone in. I'm tempted to come and watch again.

The rematch is set for this Saturday 3 May - no prisoners this time
Aiming for a clean sweep so the Escort learns its rightful place
Change of diff ratio may help but if it proves wrong then a quick changeout at the track is on the cards - either way it will be Escort stew for dinner Saturday night

The main spec is ..... 30 - 35 more RWHP that, along with the close ratio box should get me into enough trouble at the June round.
Cheers
