On top of the benifit of not losing your license at all it would have to relieve the backlog of "exceptional" licenses, and would stop people who need a vehicle for their work to continue to operate within the law. Overall it sounds like a pretty damn good deal to me.
Its intresting to note that the only people who complain about the consequences of speeding are those that get caught. Just something to think about...
If thats how it works, that's a wicked deal!!!!! Given the choice, who wouldn't choose behaving themselves?

double or nothing sounds better than losing your licence for 6 months. Remembering back to when I had my P's (many moons ago now ) you only had 1 demerit point for 2.5 years from 16.5 to 19. I guess it's still the same. Have to admit, I haven't lost any demerits in about 5 years now anyway (helps keep that Rating 1 insurance )

(Mine wasn't a complaint), I think that no matter what you did wrong in the first place you should always accept the consequences...

buy a bicycle speedo (make sure it goes over 99km/h) and stick that in your car
$30 and 2 minute install, perfectly accurate speed
done it to a few cars
hard to see at night so i put an LED in one of my cars to light it up

If your speedo does not read the correct speed the easiest solution is to measure your speed using a GPS. Stick it on the dash and record what speed you are doing when the GPS reads 60, 80, 100 or whatever. Works perfectly for me and I've never copped a speeding fine in the Datto.

I'm too lazy to read those links, but here in NZ we have a demerit point system. Once you reach 100 points you're a pedestrian for three months. I lost my liscence a long time ago for drink driving. (6 month disq, and learned my lesson well) Got it back, and then got pinged for speeding and got 35 points. (As well as a fine) Then I find out that drink driving carries a 50 point penalty! So even though I'd spent 6 agonising months unable to drive, I was 15 points away from losing it again. 1-10kms over the limit is (or was, I don't know the current rules) 10 points, 10-20 is 20 points, and so on. So had to spend two years unable to exceed 60kms in a 50. It was hell. Havn't had a fine for donkeys now though. I'm a "grown up", and don't hardly speed at all. Except when I'm giving the 1200 a sound thrashing. (not that often really. And almost never in a built up area)

My Patrol has 33" tyres and I never get booked. simple maths told me that's roughly 6% increase (33/31=1.0645), so about : 94kph indicated = 100kph actual.
assuming you have 35s, that's as good as 13% increase (35/31=1.129 or 12.9% increase) so 100kph/1.129 = 88.5kph speedo indicated. Keep the needle just under 90 and you'll be right in the 100 zones.
changing diff ratio, exactly the same principle applies. eg if you go from a 4.1 to 4.4 diffs, that's a 7.3% reduction (4.4/4.1=1.073). your speedo would show you going 7.3% faster than you actually are, or with your 13% bigger tyres, you error is now 12.9 - 7.3 = 5.6%, so divide by 1.056.
or if you want to correct your gearing change caused by the bigger tyres, multiply your existing diff ratio by 1.129 for the diff ratio you need. EG current diff 4.1 * 1.129 = 4.6.
with your datsun, either drive alongside a mate with a modern car and reasonably accurate speedo and note what the reading is, or book a quick run on a dyno. cheaper than speeding fines.
