Thanks Again peoples. Wardat seemed to have experience on it which sounds promising. Just going to fix the obvious and put it in for a Bluey. Then sit and (chew my nails Just Kidding) hope for the best. Its not as if the motor is a huge increase in weight and capacity. Plus we have taken cars there before there pretty down to earth. Oh and there Nissan dealers and old car enthusiasts.

Dont matter were u take it once its knocked back cause they list why it was knocked back with the rta via the net, then all rego places know wats wrong with it.. so the tip is to find a lazy rego who wont check the engine number.

Right. Was my understanding that if you take it to one place for a blue slip and they knock it back you have to take it back to the same place with the list of things knocked back fixed or replaced.

i have put a few 1200 coupe through nsw blueslips with a14 fitted and they dont require an engineers certificate, rta put it straight into there system and a few of the insurance companys have 1.4L as a model option. so u shouldnt have any problems. if u do just go get another blueslip form another place

Tyries maths is correct 1171 x 1.15 = 1347cc. So in NSW if they choose to conform to the letter of the law, you will need an engineers certificate to get your blueslip, as an A14 is of greater than 15% capacity over a 1200.

Your only hope is if the Blueslip guy doesnt realise that the A14 in the engine number means that its a 1400, which he may not or if he doesnt care, which he also may not.

Tyire, yeah I knew that it was a little less than 1200 but couldnt be bothered to find it... lol.

And that makes perfect sense, its a structural component so must be the right bit, or a custom part.

either way, it shouldn't cost you to much andy, especially because you got that coupe for a steel anyways...

Thanks fellow Datsunners. Anymore experiences always keen to hear about. Was thinking i will just throw stockys on it with really good tyres and run it down. Once i feel all is working Lights, indicators Horn, No obvious oil leaks etc.

I suggested the need for a late ute crossmember, because if you dont use one you will need to fabricate mounts that should require engineering.

i know its not the same but i got turned down in the 120y with a a14, even the rego guy thought it was #### and had talked to the rta about it but with no luck, however as long as everything is working and its all legit(no dodgyness) i would think an engineer would happliy pass it, lets face it its easy money for them..i took the cheaper route and just put the a12 back in for rego thats where the a series shine sooo sooo easy to remove and install

As you stated, 15% increase is OK, you should be alright, just check it over with your "friendly" blueslip mechanic! You should also check over some other issues with him while your there, Lowered, Wheel sizes etc.
Try and think of all the potential problems you may have and ask them about it BEFORE you show them the car.
