obviously its happening in the rain..., do u also have the lights and heater and stereo on driving in the rain? I find with all the old dirty electrical contacts the whole charge system struggles to cope under all that load.

But then mines not a daily driver and i dont take her out in the rain if i can avoid it either.

If yours is a daily driver and has been on the road for 40 odd yrs, it probably needs a good lube up of the moving parts easy to get at under the dash, and clean of contacts, then if still slow replace the wiper moto, its only 3 screws easy to get at and not worth trying to get the originan rebrushed.

Try disconecting the wiper motor from the mechanism & working the wipers by hand. Stiff as hell? Then lift the blades off the screen & try again. Still as stiff as a groom on honeymoon? If it is, then dismantle the wiper shafts & lubricate, .... retest.

If they wipe smoothly & easily by hand then turn on the [disconected] wipers. The electric motor should run freely, but if not, then check available voltage at the wiper motor. Bad volts? Then rectify wiring problem. If that's all good then chances are you have a dud motor.

Start by checking the volts at the motor, with the wipers on full. If you have got 12 volt and its still slow the wiper motor is stuffed.

If you have not got 12 volts and its not road registered you could run 12 volts via a swith to the wiper motor (bi passing original switch) and you have one speed wipers.

I have the same problem but thought it was due to the previous owner letting the coupe sit outside neglected for 14 years.
Time for some investigation

Thats showing its age mate. Could try cleaning all the connections and earths etc. Thats a simple starting point. Then get more technical. Have a wiper motor that works well here Make an offer out of 1200 sedan

Does anyone else have the problem of their windscreen wipers being really bloody slow? Even the fast setting is slower than that of a normal car. In the rally car, you can go through a big muddy puddle then not be able to see at 130kph... not fun!

I believe it has something to do with the wiring deterioating, but it may have just been like that from factory.

Anyway, has anyone had a go at re-wiring or getting a new motor (eg pulsar?) Any thoughts would be great!
