Sure it's been done. Most of the high-performance auto companies can make a high-stall convertor for A-series Datsun, just call a few of them and ask. The kind of thing B&M used to do. I've seen B&M shifters in Datsuns too.

i don't think many people would've done that? haven't heard much about it, but i supose anythings possible?!

I have often wondered if you could get a A-series auto box and make a cheap drag racing box for a worked A-series application, but it is unlikley that a high stall for a A-series is an 'on the shelf' item, don't know if there is much demand for them? but i could be wrong.

Hmmm I dont think I have ever heard it bieng asked on this forum before, let alone someone having a modified convertor.

Hec the autos dont even really appear to be that common, mainly cause they have all be thrown out in favour of the manual.

Still, Im with you. I would be intrested to hear of anyone has ever played with one, and if it is worth the pain. i would suspect that the answer is no, but if I was a auto gearbox fixer dude, i would have a go, just to see.

But the motor not getting realy power till 3500rpm. Thats a slightly warm cam you have there....

by bigger i meant higher stall , with my A14 it doesnt start to really go till after 3500rpm because of the cam in it ,
and ive been driving it with the auto and its a dog off the mark but goes quite well , once you get it going .

so i was wondering has anyone got one ?
i dont want to get one made .

Why on earth would you want to put a bigger torque converter in one. The stock one fills the bellhousing already.

A modified, high stall converter might be good for a car with a performance engine, but this can be done with a regular size converter.
