Could it be the fuel pressure reg? or the vacuum hose from the reg to the manifold is stuffed.

OK removing an injector wasn't as hard as I was imagining, here's no.4 injector firing. I'm guessing its supposed to make an even spray in an even cycle, this it is not doing...

Haha yeh I know A-series are simple and reliable, thats why my daily has an A-series. But for an every-now-and-then car, A-series engines just dont provide the same level of fun

edit: the 4a is still an a-series motor...

Yeah another reminder. Go back to an A series i love simple mechanics. Road side repairs just carry a toolbox and a few simple spares. Though those engines do fly like the wind bullseye

take the plug out, put your finger in the plug hole a bit and someone crank it a few secs, if theres no fuel on your finger just from the stepper motor the injectors blocked, or worse the ecu is not sending correct pulses to that injector. What ecu r u running? who installed and tuned it? they should be able to plug in and get an error code to tell u.

hmmm accessing injector means brake booster/master out, inlet manifold off then fuel rail off. weak...

As I said, heaps of flow from the pump, so I dont think its that.

unless u are sure youre injectors are either new or just been clean try getting them cleaned its like 50 bucks and i had the same bad running ended up being the fuel pump was shagged but still working but not enough pressure to run injectors properly

Could be a blown solenoid in the injector. Use a multimeter and check the impedance of the injector. If higher or lower than the other injectors you have a problem.

Check that injector earth and feed from the ecu. You can buy lights that plug into the injector feed plug and flash if the injector is firing. Maybe source one of these from a auto electrician

here's how it runs, this is at constant throttle, notice the vacuum vavering and revs fluctuating.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0POA738umE

Anyway, MAP line seems fine, could not find any air leaks.

Pulled fuel line off between filter and fuel rail, HEAPS of flow. Not blocked filter.

Pulled line off between reg and tank (return) and got heaps of flow, blocked it here and ran it, no difference. Not fuel reg.

Started unplugging injectors and got to no. 4... this could be the problem yeah? listen to the idle as I plug it back in... nothing.

Now I need to know how I test an injector without taking the manifold and fuel rail off...
