nothing wrong with bluey struts, ppl use R31 struts all the time and bluebird ones are just a better version of them when it comes to using them in 1200s

they are better for a 1200 than r31 as they have less of a stub axle angle, same as stanza and such(or pretty close anyway) so its easier to get neg camber out of them than r31 struts
r31 brakes bolt straight on, so do any brake upgrades that go onto r31 struts ie datsport adaptor and R33 brakes
good idea to shorten the strut to suit R31 or z31 shocks so that you have sufficient suspention travel when the cars lowered

only bad think i can really see about the bluebird struts is that you should really get sheer load spacer rings for the bottom of the strut if using stanza steering arms...but then lots of toyota people are running datsun struts with only the bolts to take the load and they seem to do fine
but spacers are easy to get from datsport also

as whitesedan said, need all the stanza lower stuff to bolt the struts in, if you have a late model ute you are already half way there

last point, S13 brakes on 1200 disc struts gives only about 15mm less of a track increase overall than the bigger struts

The Bluebird strut was changed quite a bit I believe so start checking the distance between the bolts that secure the steering arm, the size of the stud on the ball joint, the spring seat diameter, the strut length, the diameter of the shaft at the top of the shock & the diameter of the inside of the strut tube plus anything else you can measure.

I'm sure that I read somewhere that there is something that will screw this adaption good & proper.
Apparently Stanza's, 180B's & 200B's are a much better proposition if you must have the heavier struts.

Bluebird struts have good brakes and lots of room to fit wide postive offset wheels, but you may have trouble with getting wheels under the guards. They bolt in the same as most nissan struts, stanza front end parts with late 120y castor arms to stop the wheel hitting the floor and removing spring seat for either coilover or stanza/sunny/120y/1200 top and bottom seats/bearing etc.

Some of the arguments I've had directed at me over time about struts have been to do with the size of the stub axles. Their point was the bigger the better when it comes to putting together a package that's going to see a lot of track work and hard cornering.

They were talking about Z struts compared to 1200 but the bluebird ones wouldn't be much off the Zed ones.

There are much better choices than the 910 Bluebird struts for use in a 1200.

Unless you are doing some serious competing, the original 1200 or Jap supplied 120Y disc brake struts have a lot to offer. The S13 disc brake adaption is apparently fairly easy resulting in minimal track increase, they are light, which is better for ride quality, & seem to be both reasonably available & inexpensive.

Think about it.

They wont just bolt straight in you have to use a combination of parts. My 1200 coupe has Bluebird struts and the lower spring seats have been cut off and the 1200 ones were welded on in there place. Then you have to source bits to adapt everything. Some parts are off a Stanza. To get more info PM PIGDOG Or Revhead001. They would know much more than me. My car came with them in so haven't had to do any fitting.
