yours is a disk front to start with right? there's that lil' spring loaded valve you're supposed to partially dismantle when switching to disks, could that be it?

if it didnt have enough free play the pedal would pump up till it was rock hard and stay that way, as it wouldnt be releasing the pressure

have you bled the master cylinder first?
sometimes you need to bleed it first to make sure its actually pumping fluid

or just pull the brake lines off the master cylinder and then pump the brakes, obviously have something to catch the fluid, that way you will be able to figure out if the master cylinder is the problem

un bolt your master but not all the way, then try and bleed?. sounds like your master is not returning all the way.just leave it loose and try. is the fluid going down when u push the pedel?

I'd say check that the bleed nipples are at the top. You'll never get the air out if they're not.
