a set of JTS extractors is $330 ... i have a gx manifold ... i have hitech headers in my car that cost well under both the the previous 2 ... in a street car, yes, a gx manifold maybe more than adequate, but a "decent" "off the shelf" set of extractors are more practical and attainable ... remember the majority of people who start playing with datsuns do so for their cheapness in fuel and fixing as well as their uniqueness.
if i was building a show car period style then i may part with $400+ for a gx manifold, but for an everyday bit of fun the old off the shelf headers will do. although i am looking at upgrading to a JTS set in the near future.

..... and no, my manifold is not for sale

For street use, even high performance street use as well as some competition use, extractors have nothing to offer over one of these manifolds.

What on earth anybody would want extractors for in a street car is a mystery to me.
Perhaps if we leave in the important bits, then the quote in your post will make more sense.
The simple fact is that these have been around for many years & still offer the best compromise in the street performance stakes.

That the price is rising reflects nothing more than the supply & demand situation. If people didn't think that the GX exhaust manifold offered the best solution to their problems, ... you wouldn't be able to give them away.

maybe something to do with stock manifolds not flowing well and extractors being the best option as far as costs go going on these prices for GX manifolds

and im sure that the factory competition manual wasnt refering to your normal off the shelf extractors, pretty sure the race car ones would have been tuned length ones with all specs specially designed for the particular engine

clyons8, dont see why this thread would make you less inclined to make stainless extractors. as they should last for ages seems as they wont rust and if properly built should flow better

thanks for that rally datsun, yes, we may only need it for a few years my oldest son may only need to use it for 1-2 years i could sell it back to you with no profit made, for anyone else who had one.
seriously it does sound a bit dodgy, but they are rare hard to find and with our racing regulations the best thing we can use.
thanks guys
ps: any one that can help please pm me.
cheers all

Why you would rather have a steering whell that you are not going to use hanging on your wall to look at while another member is looking for that same style of wheel so he can do his 1970's style van is a mystery to me!

Guess what I did? I moved on!

This is an interesting topic.

I am about to build a complete new set of stainless extractors for my A14 and after hearing all this I'm beginning to wonder whether I really ought to just use one of these....
