In all my years as a springmaker I have never seen an insert jam like that. It only has a 6mm collar on the bottom to locate them. Try the nut and pipe trick again. As long as you have a decent plate at the top and bottom of the pipe so as not to damage the strut tube you should be able to put a rattle gun on the nut. Like said it has only come up out of the base about 6mm

no deal. tried it, tried using the nut and thread to pull itself out with a bit of piping and it didn't budge. i'll probably just send them into a shop to get done. thanks anyway

i'm changing my front strut inserts on the 120y and have the top colar nut off, but the old insert is not budging.
how do i get it out?
