Check the C-sedan suspension manual download on the site, it's basically what I ended up with on my car, it works very well.

I think I'm confusing myself, I have 8cm of upward shock travel (shock lengthening), and 5cm of downward shock travel (shock shortening), both of these measurements are from the 2" lowered position and with only the cars weight depressing the shock.

From the last post of sikyne I now see that it is possibly a suitable arrangment??

Ah ok, in that case I am getting bump (shock compression) of 5cm and droop (lengthening of shock) of 8cm, and it is the shock itself. So it would be better to go shorter shock to allow more bump travel I guess....Is this what you mean?

Im probably not a suspension guru but might be able to help.

Im a little confused buy the way you typed the post.
Are you saying this is the shock travel from the mounted position in the car.
IE. 5.13cm droop travell and 7.87 bump travell?
Is this wheel travel or shock travel? If it is shock travel it will be close to enough because of the angle the shock is mounted in the coupe the wheel travels 25mm for each 19mm of shock travel.
This gives you 67mm droop and 103mm bump which would be enough..

You would normally try to have a little more droop travel than that, if you could lower the car a little more would help this and get your C of G lower also.

With all of the car set ups i have been involved with we find having a fairly soft rear suspension works the best. Standard rear springs would be a good starting point. Unless you dont have a traction bar setup in which case you would attempt to stiffen the front half of the leaf only.

Some thoughts anyway.

Hello all, I'm new to the forums and am in need of some advice!

I have a 1200 coupe which I intend to race a little here and there. I have had a bit of trouble trying to get specifics on what shocks to get for the rear.

I want to lower it about 2" from standard by resetting the leafs and adding an additional leaf for stiffness. I have bought Koni shocks 80-2275 (gemini shock) as was recommended for my requirements in lowering etc. I have calculated that at the lowered height it will be approx 5.13cm from lowest shock movement (ie cannot go any lower) and 7.87cm from highest movement (cannot go higher). I want to know whether that is enough travel? or can I get a better medium than that as I was also recommended a 80-1974 sport shock which is a mini.

I appologise if this info is found else where in the forum, I have looked through the stock replacement numbering in the wiki section with no luck.

Cheers,
Heath
