ah the old compression lock ... may have done some good damage to either that gearbox, diff and/or engine

are you sure it was the gearbox that made a knock and not the engine?

could be a miss aligned gear or a stuffed head

maybe a lil more info could help

hey there,
recently got a 1200 ute finally registered, all is good but the gearbox! after downshifting at a speed which im thinking now was too quick for 2nd gear.. the tyres screeched as a loud knock came from the gearbox.. everything cut out, couldnt acellerate in any gear, nor nuetral. the engine then shut off. managed to get it home with this happening a few more times. :s any ideas as to what the problem could be? beside my driving.. its a stock a12 and gearbox.
