Whitewalls SA cuts and paints them into the sidewall, last set I had done cost me $66. Thats $16.50 each. This is on your own tyres of course.
Only thing is the paint yellows with age unless your out there cleaning it all the time, to get around this do lots of burnouts and use the tyre quicker.

They only cut through the sidewalls if you don't lube em up occasionally (as per the instructions provided with them) should be good up to 100-110kph i put em on a rodeo ute about a year ago and the guy's a bit of a hoon they seem to be lasting ok only use the Atlas brand flappers if you do get em they're the best on the market I sell em for $160 + postage from WA email me if your keen ben@antiquetyreswa.comfor WA people i can do the painting on of whitewalls or redlines once again just buzz me an email.

I've also heard they can cut through the sidewalls of the tyres...

i think the one on ebay are called flappers cause thats all you will hear after about 70kph

There are whitewall tyre inserts are available on Ebay for $199 for a set of 4. I've never used them but they look like they could work.

Ive got 13/185/70 summitomo's on my hr they came with the thin white wall moulded into them and cost me $110 a tyre from beaurepaires

$75-$90 each. Mine were $85ea but they can be had cheaper.
