Check out http://www.hotrodsandhemis.com/Traction.html and http://www.calvertracing.com
I copied the first sites instructions when I made mine for my ute. I went and bought 4 chromoly rose joints from the local bearing shop and inside threaded two half-inch steam pipe sections and they worked beaut.

I think you're referring to my rear swaybar Bert. The rear bluebird swaybar measures 20mm. When mounted like in the configuration from the datsun manual it was way too stiff. I made it work however, by bringing the U clamps inwards on the diff housing reducing its effectiveness.

I did some wet laps around Phillip Island with the rear swaybar just installed and way too stiff. It was terrifying at best!

Personally,i would have thought a Bluebird rear bar would be way too big(thick)not that i know what they actually measure.
My gut tells me i would'nt go any thicker than 12mm on the rear of a 1200.
I used 10mm solid mount on the back of the KB10 in competition.

Myself and my dad built these from marine diesel headbolts, some steel stock, left and right hand nuts and Jaguar suspension mounts. Have a look if it's of any help...

The parts...

Here you can just about see them stick out under the car...

In the picture below there is a "rose bush" (Ball joint kinda thing) at one end and just a solid bush at the other, witch seem's odd because one is useles if the whole thing cant pivot??
