Yes, keep them. The primary purpose is to keep dust and other debris off the rotors.

probably had something to do with directing air or stopping dirt and crap getting on the disc

dont have them on my car as the discs are too big

but the front covers also have the wheel bearing dust seal cover in them, and its probably wise to keep that

Hey everyone , im rebuilding some disc brakes and i was wondering if its worth keeping the covers behind the discs , is there a really good reason somebody can come up with for me to keep them on
