the old bosses, old bravo ute used to MAX out at 145 but the funny thing was we were behind a big land cruiser that started speeding up when it was in front of us one time and we got it all the way up to 165 getting pulled along in his slipstream.. friction is amazing..

The speedo may be unreliable
But my 120Y w 13inch wheels, a14, 4speed, extractors and a weber easily gets around 140kmh on a long bit of hwy I travel fequently,

I've never gone for max speed in it tho... my old corona used to top out around the 140 / 145km/hr mark, just couldn't overcome the wind resistance but the 120Y doesn't feel like that.

in a tired old 120Y wagon heading onto the highway i wound out 3rd to about 90-95km/h then 4th was struggling to get past 115km/h but i think if i had 4-5km of strait road i could get 130km/h maybe 135

No one else has any Records to report?

Here's another one you can look up in the books: B210 ran in last weeks 24 Hours of LeMons. It beat many other lemons, placing 13th. See B210 in 24 Hours of LeMons

Datsun speedo's are less reliable than politians. I've had my speedo (Round coupe one) right around to just past half way between the M (Of the MPH) and the zero. But once you get past a certain speed they start telling porkies. using a GPS, mines acurate up to 90mph(ish). But mine has a real mish-mash off driveline parts. The best way to get a true reading is to measure how far the car moves in one revolution on the tyres. (Put a chalk mark on the ground/tyre, and roll it one turn of the wheel) then take your maximum engine speed, multiply it by the gear ratio, then divide it by the diff ratio, and multiply that number by the distance the car moved in one revolution of the wheel. Although this method doesn't allow for the fact that not all the push is trasfered from the tyres to the road. (Some slippage occours here. And it also doesn't allow for the increased gearing generated by tyre dialation created by the speed of the wheel.

Wound my old blue 1200 wagon just off the dial with an A12 GX engine, 4 spd. approx 110 MPH on the long straight between Woori Yallock and Heallesville. ... May have been slightly faster as speedo wasn't calibrated for the 14" wheels.
