i think my ute has a shortened tailshaft in it because it has a weld in it, and it looks the same as one that was in another thread and it also shows a standard tail shaft

It will fit as long as the 120y is manual. If you can't get the ute one, then you'll need to get another shortened, a sunny one would be a good one to shorten as will have the correct ends.

hi pete, good news is that they are the same gearbox so if you got a ute tailshaft you would be set yoke wise. bad news is i dont know if they will fit straight in length wise. when i had my race tailshaft made it was $160 so not overly dear to get the job done first time.
hope that helps cheers kurt

i doubt the ute shaft will be correct length (you could check by comparing the wheelbase of the 120y vs. the 1200

it would fit into your gearbox

getting a shaft custom made with new unis and using the flanges you provide should be between 200-250

hey guys, need some help on my ute diff conversion to my 1974 120y hatch. the uni join on the ute diff is larger than that of my 120y tailshaft, so, does a 1200 ute tailshaft fit straight in? same length and would it fit into the gearbox? i might be able to get a tailshaft. or would it be better to get one made up? expensive??
cheers
