Man,
ddgonzal, I'd like to thank you very much. You've helped me numerous times when ive hit an absolute dead end.
Ive been whackin at my carburetor on and off since Sept 2008 when my datto died suddenly.

A simple cap and rotor change and she fired right up(even with the 6+ month old gas).
US $9.00 worth of parts.
and 5 min of time.
There was a wicked crack and carbon track running from the point in the center to the no. 3 cylinder point on the distro cap.

Just wanted to come back and say thanks.

This can happen if your distributor cap gets wet. Take the cap off, wash it with soap and water and let it thoroughly dry overnight.

Inspect the cap, if there are any tracks inside, get a a new one. Otherwise put it back on and it should be good.

Now there could be other causes, but that's what I would try first.

Ok sooo, I haven been here in a long while.
My datsun died back in sept

I have a 1977 datsun b210
I no longer have any egr equipment the only vacum line I have is to the distro advance thing.

I tried to clean up my engine bay one night and I guess I got water where there wasn't supposed to be any because it wouldn't start after that.

I let it dry out over night, and it started the next morning, but ran crappy.

I drove it approximately 5 miles then cut it off.
After that it refused to start.

It back fires violently out the carb, no flames or anything. I have checked it over many times and cannot find any(new) vacum leaks.

I am at my wits end.

Any body have any suggestions?
