You can definitely run multiple carbs and blowthrough. The lotus esprit used blowthrough dellortos (before GM bought out Lotus, and it got efi the following year). It's just double the cost to change a jet or other setting.

In practice, as long as the carb is big enough for the job, and the inlet manifold allows for good mixture distribution, a single carb will be just as good. there'd be less than 5% difference in the final result.

Of the two, turbos, since they take a split second to build up boost, actually are more gentle on the drivetrain. As long as you 'slip' the clutch a little on launch, and don't just jump off the clutch at high rpm, the box can take a lot of torque relative to how much shock loading it can take. Even with a stocko a12 if you jump off the clutch enough, you can break the stock gearbox or diff.

Having said that, if you can truly budget 3-4 grand, you should _very_ seriously consider the toyota t50 gearbox conversion and if you have the h145 diff, going to a h165 out of a ute, or a bw diff out of a later model datto.... I know it spoils the fun to buy that stuff first as you don't see any 'real' gain in performance from that much expense and work, but when you do get the boosted motor up and running, at least you won't have 5 minutes of fun, break the drivetrain and get discouraged.

Blow off valve can only be used on a blow through set up.

Here are pics of each set-up,
heres a pic of a supercharger set up that was for sale a couple months ago.

this is a pic of my blow though set-up on an a14

pic of topgear's blow through set up

All depends to preference, both turbochargers and superchargers have their own advantages and disadvantanges.
Superchargers have instant boost, turbochargers takes a bit to wind up, which to me is ideal for everyday driving because you drive normally without reaching boost, helps fuel economy.

Do you intend on doing the work for yourself? welding the maifolds etc?
