This is from MAD DAT any suggestions or opinions?
Datsun 1200 Street Package
So there's a minimum you need to install an SR or CA into a 1200 and not put yourself through the neighbours fence or offend the local RTA, but if you're not taking it to the track, a bunch of adjustable gear is probably about as useful to you as your sisters tits (they look pretty, but you'll never touch them). This package still has beautiful handling and how sweet it will be bolting it all in knowing it will just work.
Choice of Engine Fitting Kit ( includes sway bar) Modified Wiring Loom 1200-ready suit standard computer Lowered Struts with new insterts and coilover-style King springs Front Brake Conversion Kit (FBK001) Brake Booster/Master Kit/Clutch Conversion Front End Re-build Kit Accelerator Cable Speedo Cable Fuel Kit Turbo Dump Pipe Intercooler & Radiator R31 Diff including New Gears & LSD, Rear Brakes & Hand Brake Cable Free telephone tech support and instruction sheets provided. Free freight to most destinations.
This kit includes nearly everything you need for a full conversion. Other items to be considered should be engine and gearbox cost, Min 15" wheels, Exhaust/Cooler Piping, Hard Brake lines, clutch, and incidentals. And most importantly an engineer for a roadworthy certificate. YES this is legal in your state if you have an engineer's certificate.
We do not usually supply the above-mentioned items because they should be easy to source locally. If you are having difficulty finding any items we can assist, however.
Credit Card and Lay-by options available.
$6,995 without diff
$11,010 with diff
Exchange surcharge applicable

Yeah i know they didnt come out with SR. Will repeat im talking about buying a DONOR car that is already converted or running an SR if the price is right. Something like a TRX as you can use other bits off the TRX if series 2 like rear discs on ute diff etc.

22k...crap... I did it for $1200 including the cost of the engine!!! \It was for a racecar though so no engineer needed. Just get a nice road car you dont have to touch and leave the datsun for track work, otherwise you are going to fork ridiculous money for zippo. Or get something already done. Its easy to do yourself really is give it a go...im a computer nerd and did it myself. U even used the standard cross member. Maddat does an SR20 conversion kit which makes it even simpler!!!!!! iD SAY GIVE IT A GO YOURSELF!!!!!!

DOn't get a bluebird donor car! FWD sr's are a different best and can't be turned round to rwd. Get a silvia motor.
You could buy up every sr conversion part from maddat and you still wouldn't be at 22k and the maddat stuff is designed around the fact that the average backyard hobbyist should be able to do 90% of the work themselves. If you've got the patience go that route you'll learn a lot more about your car that way and the maddat gear is good quality stuff which will make the conversion a hell of a lot simplier even for some one with no experience. I'd ring and talk to maddat and get them to explain the process for you. I think you be surprised. Even if you farmed some of the other stuff out like welding in the maddat tunnel, mounting intercooler and runing piping and exhaust etc you should still be under 22k.
Or just do what I did, buy a welder/a datsun and a sr and just learn as you go :) just factor in it taking a couple of years!

HA HA 22k Oh god i nearly fell off me chair im doin one myself with some advice along the way and things i cant make like a sway bar. You could do it way cheaper mate and i mean way cheaper. Mine will end up costing me $4000 turn key ready for engineering and that includes buying the wagon shell. Engineering cost $600 in my town. Try pickin up a donor car with SR in it like a bluebird. Or buy a CA one off ebay already done for about 12k Sr ones arent as common but there getting there.

Not a guarantee but another member may help you for a few bob. Still gotta engineer it if you take it to someone they will tack the engineering cost on the bill so either way you pay. Have you accumulated all the bits to do it e.g bigger brake setup, Cross member, Radiator, motor, box, wiring and ECU, etc, etc ?
