datman, let us know how long the gearbox lasts behind the A15. Since it has no strengthening ribs, I would think it will be fragile.

The stock A14/A15 transmissions are similar, but larger therefore stronger (60-series transmissions).

that is no b10 unit
b10 units are smaller and use a different style of cable and lever to engage the clutch

Late utes (1990s) use the heavily ribbed 56A as in the photos a few posts up.

My guess is it is some lightweight version. Maybe an early B10 unit. But seeing as the added more ribs later, I think it wouldn't hold up to the torque of an A12.

I'm pretty sure I saw a smooth case gear box, but with 56 stamped on the side in an A12 B310 (in Oz)

Well now I'm confused. On the outside at least this is different to what I know/knew as the late model 56A. Very much like 60A based on the photos. Maybe it's from a really late model 1200 Ute or Van?

Would be interesting to see how it's different inside - seems unlikely Nissan would go to the trouble of creating a new casing without some more meaningful change/improvements.
